Natural Swimming Pond Dorset
A Wildlife Garden near Westbury - under construction
A large garden with the existing ponds, trees and kitchen garden to be incorpoated into the plan. The garden near the house is quite formal in layout but with relaxed planting falling onto the paving. The garden beyond the espalier fence is informal in layout with wild flower meadows, orchard and woodland. The pond is to be de-sludged and a biological filter (reed bed gravel filter) has been inserted into the ditch that feeds the pond. This should render the water crystal clear and prevent the current blanket weed from forming.

Before Pictures
Left -looking towards the pond with the woodland area beyond. (This area will be broken up with paths through wild flower meadows)
Right - the existing terrace and water feature overlooked by neighbouring properties (there will be a pergola here to give privacy)

Pretty and Productive
A kitchen garden in Dorset
A long narrow garden in Sherborne. A public footpath runs between the house and garden to the left of the image and then down along the boundary at the bottom of the image to the main road which runs just beyond the boundary to the right. The plan is therefore for a garden with lots of added privacy, but retaining the veiws towards the church steeple and woodland on the hills beyond. The Shed, green house, hedge and garden divisions help to cut down the noise from the road.

A Riverside Garden in Christchurch
The brief was for a curvy design to tie in the existing summer house, circular gravel patio, strawberry tree and rectangular stone terrace. The garden slopes steeply down to the river. Veiws are retained towards the river, whilst cutting out veiws towards the pylons in the fields beyond, and obscuring views into the garden from overlooking neighbouring windows on both sides. The clients wanted lots of space for large parties!

Being built in August - check back for photos

Garden Design Shaftesbury
Two cottage gardens in Shaftesbury joined to make one
A public footpath runs between the house and the espalier apple fence. Espalier apples were chosen, so that they don't block the winter sun from the house, but create privacy in summer. One of the existing sheds is to be removed and replaced with a loggia. A place to place the dining table if it starts to rain, or to escape from the mid summer sun. Both shed rooves are replaced with 45 degree pitched rooves with reclaimed tiles to match the house.

Before pictures! To be constructed this autumn.

Two designs for one garden. This garden is part of a larger garden shared by several flats at West Bay in Dorset. The brief was for a garden with wheel chair access and with places to play, entertain, and seats to sit quietly and enjoy the sea views. The plan provides shelter from the onshore winds and screening of parked cars, whilst allowing views out towards the waves.
